07/11/2009 : PUB : Metro Clinton Rescue Services (Clinton)
Several months ago, leaders from 5 organizations involved in rescue started meeting to discuss ways for the companies to work better together in emergency situations. The framework of these discussions centered around combined training, standard operating guidelines and becoming operational in all areas. One of the first steps in the process was to learn about each others people and equipment and that took place recently at NHHS.
The working group by which we identify ourselves is Metro Clinton Rescue Services which is made up of the Annandale Hose Co, Clinton First Aid and Rescue Squad, High Bridge Fire Department, Lebanon Fire Company and Quakertown Fire Co. These proud organizations are seperate agencies but will work more closely together regardless of our main objective whether fire or EMS. Wednesday night\'s truck accident is a prime example of the types of situations where our group can work together.
In the past, fire companies would work with fire companies and rescue squads would work with rescue squads regardless of the distance and the rescources available. This group is a large step forward in erasing that history and not allowing Pride to effect Performance.

The riders and crew consist of EMS professionals from the Northeast that embarked on a six day, six hundred mile bike ride from New York City to Roanoke, Virginia. The ride concluded on May 28th as part of the annual EMS Memorial events.
The ride is in memory of those EMS professionals being inducted at the memorial service, as well as in support of the "To the Rescue Museum”. Among the 27 EMS professionals being inducted this year, two Emergency Medical Technicians are from New Jersey; David Bokow (age 18), and James Dodridge (age 52), both of whom died in the line of duty in 2004.
The EMS Memorial Bike Ride was created by Boston EMS EMT Jamie Orsino in 2001 in order to raise awareness for the National EMS Memorial and the National EMS Memorial Service. Both the memorial and the service are held each May in Roanoke, VA to honor those members of the EMS community who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The “To the Rescue Museum”, located in Roanoke, Virginia, site of the founding of the first rescue squad in the nation, is the only national museum of its kind in the nation to tell the story of the rescue movement and emergency medical services.
The riders and their crew were treated to a dinner of fresh cooked Italian food and a tour of the facility and apparatus. After their stay with us was over they rested at a local hotel and continued their ride the next day. The squad is proud to support the ride and their efforts to support the memory of fallen EMS workers.
