CLINTON TWP. — A large Ford pickup truck hit a Nissan Maxima on Route 31 and the car then spun out of control and slammed into a utility pole, police said. The Nissan was extensively damaged and its driver sustained serious injuries, police reported. The accident took place Tuesday around 10:50 p.m. A 2008 Ford F450 operated by Jeffrey Mueller, 52, of Ringoes, was traveling south Route 31 approaching Molasses Hill Road when it struck a 2010 Nissan Maxima operated by Matthew Smith, 42, of Bath, Pa. in the rear. As a result, the Smith vehicle spun off the roadway and struck a utility pole. Which driver was responsible for the initial collision is not yet clear. The events leading up to the accident as well the cause of the crash are still under investigation, police reported Wednesday afternoon. |
