All personnel while on duty must wear a surgical mask (the use of the N95 mask must follow previous protocol as this update does not change the N95 protocol). This includes wearing a mask at all times while in public on duty or in a Squad uniform, in our building at all times that you are in the same room with another person, while you are alone in a bunk room you may not wear a mask. Cloth masks (i.e. homemade masks) can be worn in the building and in public while not on a call, however while on a call or in a Squad vehicle you must wear a surgical mask. Each member coming on duty must utilize one surgical mask per day, you may change masks if it becomes soiled or is contaminated. Please use your judgement as to when to change out the mask as this guide does not cover every possible situation you may feel the need to change a mask. This change reflects the current CDC advisory and multiple studies suggesting asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic potential for viral shedding and thus spreading the virus.
