Firefighters responded to a dryer fire at a Franklin Township (Hunterdon County) home on Sunday night, April 26, 2015. Emergency responders were dispatched at 11:23 p.m. to 140 Sidney Road. Radio reports indicated heavy smoke coming from the basement. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported. (Photo by Rich Maxwell)

Firefighters responded to a dryer fire at a Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, home on Sunday night, April 26.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 11:23 p.m. to 140 Sidney Road. Radio reports indicated heavy smoke coming from the basement. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

The dryer was removed from the basement and the residence ventilated. The homeowners were home at the time of the incident.

Responding to the call were Franklin Township Police Department, Quakertown Fire Department, Clinton Fire Department, Annandale Hose Company (Clinton Township), High Bridge Fire Department, Lebanon Borough Fire Department and Clinton Rescue Squad.

CFARS MEDICAL Director selected as Award RECIPIENT by National Organization

Dr. Stephen J Vetrano, DO, EMT-Instructor, CFARS's Medical Director, was selected as this year's recipient of the Robert D. Aranosian Award for Excellence in EMS by the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians

This is awarded to a member of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physician or emergency medicine community who had made contributions to the field of EMS that furthered the operation, teaching or development of the specialty through his or her actions, dedication and deeds.

Criteria: The person receiving this award must be involved in EMS and may be a physician, an EMS professional, e.g., fire official, who has contributed to the creation of or work in the field of Emergency Medicine Services. His or her actions and deeds while serving the public may be on a national, regional or local basis.

We would like to extend a huge heartfelt thank you to the organizers, sponsors and attendees of the 9th Annual Bring the Heat Annual Chili Cook-Off !! Without the support of the Newcomers Club and the Knights of Columbus Council 6245, we wouldn't be able to continue the level of services we provide to the community. Last to our members who spent the last week preparing and setting up for this family-fun, tasty event. Thank you one and all!Can't wait until next year.

Busy Weekend of Events for CFARS Members

It was more than just a fund-raising day here at CFARS. In addition to normal duty crews, we had 3 community events that we participated in, including the Clinton Township Country Run 5k & 15k, the 7th Annual Clinton Township Community Day, and Rutgers Day 2015. We are happy to give back and support the communities that support us. And don't forget, we have a current Volunteer Membership Drive occurring now. Extrication Training for EMT Students

As our initial NJ EMT program at the CFARS EMS Training Center students head into their last month of training, they had a lesson on vehicle and technical rescue & extrication last evening. After a review of incidents they might respond to and their roll at the scene, the students got some "Hands On" time with basic extrication actions and tools.
