Member News:
- During the month of May, the CFARS family welcomed a new baby girl to members Matthew & Emily Stiff
- Also this month we also said thank you to Rescue Lt. Ben Hagan who left the area for a career change and stepped down from his position. We thank Ben for his leadership and wish him much success with his new company, and look forward to seeing him home to continue his volunteer duties from time to time.
- Volunteer Braedon Monticello, a Senior at NHHS, took his oath and was sworn into the US Coast Guard
A busy month of calls, but also of special events around our territory:
- Tour de Somerville we had our Duty Crew in Somerville on Memorial Day, joined by an additional BLS Crew and our ASAP Off-Road Ambulance assisting at this annual event.
- We celebrated the National EMS Week with a celebration here at our station for all members, as well as attended numerous training opportunities across the region
- We hosted the National Association of EMS Educators here in Clinton, who held their Instructor Level 1 program with participants from California, Texas, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and NJ. 3 of our instructors participated in this program as well.
- 4 members participated in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride from Yonkers NY to Perth Amboy NJ in mid May. A great opportunity to see NYC from a different perspective, but also remember those EMS providers lost in the line of duty over the past year.
- We participated in the first National Stop The Bleed Month, training over 250 personnel in schools, community groups, responders and boy & girl scouts.
- We graduated 2 classes of new EMT-Candidates, finishing the first time we've run two concurrent programs in a single semester.
- Along with the Clinton Fire Department several dozen members participated in the 2019 Relay for Life at North Hunterdon, were the team was awarded the Silver Team award for raising over $3,500 in the fight against cancer, all in honor to our past-member Gene DeCleene, who we lost after a long battle with Cancer last year.
