Late Saturday night, CFARS responded 2 BLS Ambulances and Heavy Rescue 455 with the Lebanon Borough Fire Company (LBFC) to Route 78 for a reported vehicle fire. First arriving units advised of a fully involved vehicle fire on the shoulder. Firefighters from both LBFC Engine 18 and CFARS HR455 began a cohesive effort to extinguish the fire. Due to the nature and the amount of fuel in the vehicle, a high expansion foam unit from Engine 18 and the Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) from HR455 were integrated to smother the fire. Units operated for about 45 minutes before clearing the highway.
